Consulting & Advising

About Lauren

Lauren Yurick is a partner and founder at Benefit Resource Group with an extensive background in consulting & advising.

Born and raised in Philadelphia and settling in Reno, Nevada in 1988, Lauren originally worked for various carriers and agencies. While working in commercial sales at a health insurance company, she was inspired by the ability to help people and offer valuable, comprehensive benefits. She took on a consultant role at a major managed care company, and then realized she wanted to carve her own path.

Lauren comes from a family with a long entrepreneurial history. Her grandfather immigrated from Italy to the United States at just 12 years old and eventually opened his own business, Bright Sign Co., in Philadelphia. Her father and uncle have run the family business ever since. Between her family background and her college degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management, Lauren has always wanted to make her own destiny, and to do so by overseeing excellent client-employee communication.

For six years, Lauren worked as an independent broker and built a large client base in Nevada and beyond. As she advised employers and got insight into the difficulties of benefits programs, she decided to create a truly comprehensive, client-centric firm that could serve employers’ and employees’ needs nationwide.

Lauren founded Benefit Resource Group, LLC in 2004. The consulting firm is fully insured and self-funded, and it provides administration of a variety of benefit programs, such as medical and dental, Healthcare Reform/PPACA compliance, corporate wellness initiatives, payroll/HR technology solutions, and much more. From her years as a consultant and a broker, Lauren has insight into the technical groundwork of insurance companies, such as underwriting and contract negotiation. She combines this insight with tailored, genuine customer service to make sure that Benefit Resource Group, her clients, and her clients’ employees can all communicate and be on the same page.

Because the company offers such comprehensive coverage and such a large network of exclusive resources, it is used nationwide and is now one of the largest employee benefits advisory organizations. The group’s success is attributed in part to the relationships it has built over the years with other top members of the industry. With just one business partner and a staff of 12 hard-working people, Lauren ensures that the company can meet each client’s needs with personalized, effective solutions.

Lauren continues to be active in the industry on both national and local levels. Benefit Resource Group is the only Nevada representative in United Benefit Advisors, one of the country’s top five employee benefits advisory organizations. She also served as local president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and sits on the broker advisory committee of a local HMO in the Reno area. Lauren shares her expertise in business seminars about health care reform and is always looking for new, creative ways to deliver the best possible value to her clients.

In addition to her extensive interest in employee benefits and corporate wellness, Lauren devotes her time to nonprofit organizations. She volunteers in the Reno chapter of STEP2, a treatment and rehabilitation program for women who suffer from substance abuse, poverty, and domestic violence.
